2012 Ron Alexander Memorial JV Wrestling Tournament
sponsored by the Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches Association
When: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 16th 2012
Where: Spire Institute in Geneva, OH
Convieniently located 1 min. of off Inter-State 90,  45 min. east of Cleveland this facility is less than 2 years old and has hosted the BIG 10 indoor track championships and the MAC Volleyball championships.
Format: Each participant is guaranteed 3 matches.
Entry Fee:  $200 for 14 or more Wrestlers/$140 for less than 14 Wrestlers. Proceeds benefit the Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches Association Scholarships

2011 Al Carroll Scholarship Award Recipients
Two applicants have been selected to receive $750 each during the 2011-2012 school year from the Al Carroll Scholarship.; Committee Chair, John Duplay announced on Wednesday, April 20th that Nick Hendershot from Willoughby South High School and Dan McNamara from Aurora High School will be the recipients.

Hendershot will most likely compete for the University of Mount Union and major in Pre-Med.; McNamara will attend John Carroll University or Ohio Northern University, and major in Business.  Both candidates had excellent credentials and successful interviews.

Duplay will ensure that both recipients are wrestling next Winter for their respective teams, as required by GCWCOA by-laws, then the awards will be granted

Coaches Procedure for Reporting Wrestler Records to Plain Dealer
Coaches are asked to send their wrestler's records electronically to Larry Hoon for reporting to the Plain Dealer. Larry has volunteered to compile all this information and submit it in a nice easy format so that our student-athletes receive the recognition it deserves. ALL coaches are encouraged to participate. A big THANK YOU to Coach Hoon for taking on this responsibility. It is appreciated! Click below for details on submitting your individual wrestlers records.

The Northern OhioWrestling Official Association has scholarship opportunites available for wrestlers. Please visit our scholarship page for a link to their application and many other GCWCOA scholarship opportunites.

Scholarship Funds. We provide numerous scholarship opportunities to students who plan on attending college. Two schlarship funds, Al Carroll Scholarship and the Don Ferris Scholarship, provide this for northeast Ohio Students. Follow the appropriate links to view more details on these scholarships.
