The Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches & Officials Association (GCWCOA) honored the Northeast Ohio All Stars, State Champions, College All-Americans and College MVP’s last week at a sold out All Star Banquet in Independence, Ohio. Members of last Friday’s All Star Teams were recognized and thanked for their participation in the annual event. Results of the All Star Match and Banquet awards are listed below:

The following State Champions were recognized for their outstanding achievement on March 4th.
The Following Most Valuable Wrestlers were honored as the best at their respective colleges:
Ron Howard at Cleveland State University, Bryan Kmetz at Baldwin Wallace University, Alex Camargo at Kent State University, Andrew Gardella at Case Western Reserve University and Dan Brown at John Carroll University. All-Americans Joe Pflug and Tim Maxworthy from Heidelberg College were also recognized for their successful seasons.
Special recognition went to Ahmad Motley (Shaker Hts), recipient of the “Milkovich” award for courage in adversity, and St. Edward 4-time State Champion, Lance Palmer, who received the “Lee Kemp” award as the Outstanding Wrestler in Northeast Ohio.
Secretary of State, Jim Petro, was honored with a “Lifetime Achievement” award. Gubernatorial candidate Petro was a former wrestler from Brooklyn ( Ohio) High School, who earned great achievement in the State of Ohio outside of the wrestling arena. Mr. Petro addressed the nearly 300 people in attendance about the importance wrestling has played in his successful political career.
