The Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches & Officials Association, Inc. Don Ferris Memorial Scholarship The Scholarship The Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches & Officials Association (GCWCOA) will offer a minimum of $500.00 to each of three different categories of applicant:
This grant is a one-time, non-renewable award, which will be made to a graduating senior or a high school graduate pursuing post-high school training, degree or certification. Area of Study Students who apply for the GCWCOA Don Ferris Scholarship do so with the intention of using the money top receive further education or training. There will be no special consideration given to any particular field or institution. There is no requirement to continue involvement in wrestling after high school. Scholarship Criteria The GCWCOA Don Ferris Scholarship is available to any student who meets the criteria listed above, and has also been involved in the sport of wrestling in high school. The applicant may be either male or female. (Examples of involvement include wrestler, manager, statistician, cheerleader or writer). Selection of Recipient The selection of the intended recipient will be based on the information provided by the applicant, accompanying recommendations and need of the applicant. A committee comprised of three members of the GCWCOA, along with a representative of the Law Enforcement Community will meet to discuss applicants and determine finalists.
